The work force in Wilmington has remained relatively stable throughout the last decade.  The industry with the highest economic growth in Wilimington real estate is the service-related industry, primarily retail businesses.  There has also been an increased interest in television filming in Wilmington in the last decade, starting with Dawson's Creek in 1998 and continuing today with One Tree Hill.  This has helped influence the increase in service-related businesses.

Education in Wilmington

Wilmington's public educational needs are overseen by the New Hanover County Schools system.  There are 23 elementary schools, seven middle schools, five high schools and one combination middle/high school occupying Wilmington real estate that offer public education.  Additionally, there are two charter and 25 private schools available as a wonderful alternative to Wilmington's public education system.

The University of North Carolina at Wilmington has been consistently named as one of the top regional schools in the South for years.  Cape Fear Community College and the Miller-Motte Business College are both fantastic institutions of higher learning as well.

Areas of Interest  in Wilmington

Wilmington real estate is a great place to visit the past.  The Burgin-Wright and Latimer Houses are wonderful places to sneak a peak at the Wilmington of yesteryear as well as the historical downtown district.  There are several fine art galleries and museums in Wilmington that highlight what makes Wilmington special.  The parks, gardens (like Arlie Gardens) and wildlife showcase Wilmington's natural beauty as well.  There are also over 45 golf courses for the golf enthusiast to enjoy.

The USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial is anchored in Wilmington.  This historic WWII battleship pays homage to the brave men who fought for our country.  Tours of the ship are offered daily and the museum exhibits photos, art work and other memorabilia documenting life aboard the battleship during the war.

Being situated along the Cape Fear River and near the Atlantic Ocean makes Wilmington's beaches especially amazing.  Carolina, Kure and Wrightsville Beaches are havens for family getaways, fishermen and even honeymooners.  The marinas offer boat ramps and rentals so everyone can enjoy Wilmington's magnificent waters.

While it's beautiful during the day, Wilmington's Boardwalk absolutely comes alive at night, with restaurants, bars and shopping.  Couch potatoes need not apply.  Wilmington real estate is meant to be experienced on a close, personal level.
